130 Days: 30 Before 30

Guess who's got two thumbs and turns 30 in 130 days?

THIS GIRL!

That's right, kids, your beloved blogger will officially be An Adult. Goodbye, freewheeling 20s, hello tax-paying 30s! In the spirit of entering The Responsible Decade, I've made a list of things I want to accomplish before The Big Day:

In case you can't read my scrawls, here's the list in boring Times New:

  1. Take two aerial classes
  2. Wear everything in my closet once
  3. Make magnetic makeup board
  4. Make rainbow macaroons
  5. Go to the beach
  6. Yarn-bomb
  7. Make countdown-to-30 calendar
  8. Take one photo per day
  9. Start photo blogging
  10. Have a fake wedding photo shoot
  11. Have pictures taken in a photobooth
  12. Get a six-pack (of abs!)
  13. Do the splits (both ways!)
  14. Find the perfect black shift dress
  15. Hike Little Grayback Mountain
  16. Have high tea
  17. Visit feminist bookstore
  18. Do 20 push-ups on my toes
  19. Dye my hair
  20. Get bangs
  21. Make funky-colored hair extensions
  22. Run six miles per day
  23. Run a 5k with a friend
  24. Join a running club
  25. Plan and host a rainbow party
  26. Go berry-picking
  27. Make limoncello
  28. Write in diary
  29. Enroll at Columbia
  30. Plan and host an awesome 30th theme party!
Do you make birthday lists? What do you want to do before you turn 30? Or, what do you wish you had done before your 30th birthday? Or what do you want to do before your next birthday?

  1. I don't really make birthday lists; sometimes I make year lists. I'm turning 31 in 2 days! No time to make a new goal. :D

    1. This is the first time I've made a birthday list. Which is surprising, considering how into birthdays I am.

Happy almost birthday! Did you decide on museums, or beach? Or both?

    2. Eh, neither. Work is crazy these days so I'm going to be at work for most of the day, but I did make lunch and dinner plans with friends. Museums this weekend, though, for sure--a Jasper Johns exhibit is opening at the Phillips!

  2. It strikes me that although the blog editor writes in Times New, it does not publish as such. This factual error is in need of correction, however I've no idea how to change the font on this thing. This has been a public font service announcement brought to you by me. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

  3. Are we talking about the rainbow party I think we're talking about?

    1. I can't very well know what you're thinking if I don't know who you are, anonymous. BUT, if you have any inkling, I'm sure you're right.

  4. Best of luck in reaching your goals! I am an aspiring strongman who hopes to Deadlift 750lbs, Squat 800lbs, Bench Press 405lbs, and Overhead Press 300lbs before I turn 30. I'll be 25 in October and Deadlift 425, Squat 325, Bench 275, and Overhead Press 195 currently. I also hope to obtain a Master's Degree in Food Politics/Food Science and compete in Strongman contests at least a few times per year. Paying off my current student debt wouldn't be a bad idea as well ;)

  6. Just about the only thing I'm not behind is the bangs thing. Might think that one through before grabbing the scissors ;)

    1. Wait, wait, have you MET my forehead? It's so large! It needs a fringe to hide behind! I'm torn, though - bangs are a hassle, what with their constant need to be straightened and fussed with.
